The band played Pomona’s Glass House last night and we got a little taste of what was to come on the new album that’s coming out “in a few months”.
First, we heard a new version of “Swear You’re In Love”. We all heard it in the band’s latest Daytrotter session, but this version featured new lyrics in the second verse.
We also got to hear a new song, called “Everything’s Debatable”. You can hear a snippet of the song in this video announcing that they signed to OFR.
The band debuted a new version of “When We First Met”, which was acoustic and came with an amazing string solo. The song took on a Wilco/alt-country vibe. Forrest said they played the same version for the “Did It Kill You?” live recording.
Lastly, they played “Here (In Your Arms)” as an encore. The arrangement was different, with a chill, near-dubstep backing in the chorus.
Get ready. This next album is going to be incredible. I filmed most of their set but the audio was slightly fuzzy. We’ll be posting videos from the show as they become available because everyone needs a little tipsy hellogoodbye in their lives.
I never really talk about it, but I tried to kill myself in October 2009. Things weren’t going well, I was working too much and things generally sucked. Things got better after a while and I thought I was over it. “Would It Kill You?” (the song) had a huge part in me getting help.
A few months ago I was really struggling and wasn’t so sure being alive was the right choice.
I’ve never been happier to be alive than I am tonight. I saw hellogoodbye third row, in a packed house with awesome fans. Watching them goof around and sing for the better part of two hours cemented in my mind that I still belong here. I can’t even begin to describe how amazing that felt. I hope one day I can tell Forrest to his face that he literally saved my live. Tonight was an amazing experience and I can’t believe I almost wasn’t alive to see it.
